Favorite Hair Trends

Bored with your hair?

Here are some of my favorite hair styles right now…

Short and sassy…

Loving Brooklyn Deckers new short style. Long hair is always fun, but short hair can be uplifting, low maintenance, and so sexy! Her beachy blonde hair looks great with the style too. If you’re considering chopping your hair short, think about taking your color brighter. I always love adding more pops of bright blonde or honey when cutting a clients hair short.

Peek-A-Boo-tiful

I’ve always had a thing for Mila Kunis. She has such great style and is so beautiful without even trying. What I love about this hair color is that it compliments her olive skin tone so well. Adding those carmel peek-a-boo highlights to that rich chocolate brown hair color is perfection. This is a great way to add a little flair if you have brown hair and are getting bored with it, but don’t want to commit to high maintenance highlights.

Hey Blondie

News flash. Blonde hair will never go out of style. As the sun gets hotter and your tan gets deeper, brightening up your hair can really take your look to the next level. Ombre hair is still the rage, however I’m thinking girls will start craving brightness at their roots again. Reese’s blonde is gorgeous on her. I call this blonde buttery blonde.

Faux Bob

Round 2 with Mila. Though her hair looks shorter in this picture, she didn’t actually cut all her hair off. She’s rockin a faux bob and it looks so fresh and fun!

Create a faux bob:

1. Curl all your hair and spray with hairspray

2. Gather all your hair at the nape of your neck loosely, while letting the layers around your face and your fringe fall out.

3. Twist your hair and tuck it in. Use bobby pins to hold up the hair. Don’t fret if it takes a lot of pins. The more you try this style, the easier it will get.

4. Customize by re curling the hair around your face.

Red-y or not, Red is HOT…

If you haven’t noticed by now, I love me some red hair! Red hair is going to be big this spring/summer, so get ready for it. Any tone will do, but Evan Rachel Wood’s take on it is hot. It’s an orange based coppery red which looks stunning, especially if you have fair skin and light color eyes.

Hair Feathers

Taryn Manning is such a trend setter, and she started rocking Featherlocks even before they came on the scene. These feather hair extensions are such a fun way to sass up your hair with no commitment. If your hair salon isn’t offering these fun accessories, then they should be. What’s fun is you can choose what color feathers you want and where you want them placed in your hair. You can do anything from bright fun colors, to more neutral tones. The feathers Taryn is wearing compliment her skin, eyes, and look so cute under a hat. Check out my blog story about Featherlocks here.

Going short, but not too short…

Natural hair has been in style for a minute, and I dig it. This style isn’t quite as short as Brooklyn Decker’s, but it’s still just as pretty. The lower the maintenance the better for most of us, and thank goodness this is finally considered a stylish thing. Nicole Richie recently took out her long extensions, and is opting for a more soft and shorter do. Hair this length looks great when a little texture is added with a curling iron, just like in the picture. Stick straight hair is blah… think texture, movement, volume.

Bangs… Still Sexy

I’m diggin Olivia Wilde’s bangs. Though I love thick statement bangs, hers are a bit wispy and soft, so she can easily push them to the side and sweep them off her face. If you’ve been battling over getting bangs, maybe February is the month to try it out! If you’re not crazy about them, they’ll be grown out by summer! Also, her medium brown hair color is gorgeous. Shiny hair is always in style, so if yours is looking dull, maybe it’s time to do something about it!

Im in love with Mila Kunis’s hair color
Ive had very dark brown hair (looks black) for my entire life and always been told not to dye it because its such a pretty color already.
But im getting tired of it!
This is a great way to keep my dark dark hair but add a little spunk!

Please write a blog post about dyeing black hair :)
